PETG with tribological properties
The popularization of 3D technology and the increase in specific expectations regarding the functionality of prints brings the need to develop increasingly specialized materials. Based on market needs analysis and repeated customer requests, we decided to expand our range with a PETG material featuring tribological properties. We present Spectrum PETG/PTFE copolymer for use in sliding components and gears. As a base, we used PETG, known for its excellent mechanical properties, enriched with a 10% addition of PTFE, commonly known as Teflon, with self-lubricating properties. Thanks to the careful selection of components and the reduced coefficient of friction, the filament maintains the ease of printing, interlayer adhesion, impact toughness, and thermal characteristics typical for PETG.
Spectrum PETG/PTFE is suitable for printed parts exposed to increased wear due to friction and operating temperatures up to 70"C. The filament is available in a wide range of colors.
Key features:
10% PTFE content. Reduced coefficient of friction compared to conventional PETG. Thermal resistance up to 70"C. Easy to print. Good chemical resistance. Excellent interlayer bonding.
Applications:
Functional prototypes. Production of low-friction components. Manufacturing of low-load gears and transmission elements. End-use parts.
Filament specifications:
Filament diameter: 1.75mm / 2.85mm. Extrusion temperature: 230–255"C. Bed temperature: 60–80"C. Printing speed: 30–70mm/s.
